350m³/d Modular MBR Wastewater Treatment & Reuse System for Industrial Park in China

OEM

Project Details

Located in Guangzhou, China, this project addresses the wastewater treatment needs of a large industrial park, home to thousands of employees. The primary objective was to manage the daily domestic sewage generated by the industrial park, while simultaneously complying with strict environmental regulations and supporting the park’s sustainability goals. The client needed a cost-effective and quick-to-deploy solution that could also provide high-quality effluent for water recycling (specifically for landscape irrigation).

To meet these requirements, Global UF provided a fully integrated, modular MBR system that successfully converted wastewater into a valuable resource, ensuring the system could be up and running quickly, with minimal on-site construction.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project serves a large industrial park in Guangzhou, home to thousands of employees. The main objective was to treat the park’s daily domestic sewage while meeting strict environmental regulations and supporting sustainability goals. The client needed a cost-effective, quick-to-deploy solution that could also produce high-quality effluent for water recycling – specifically for landscape irrigation.

Global UF provided a fully integrated, modular MBR system that successfully converted wastewater into a valuable resource. The system was up and running quickly with minimal on‑site construction.

An operating high-efficiency aerobic aeration system effectively removes COD and ammonia nitrogen from wastewater through microbial degradation.

The Challenge

The industrial park generates large amounts of domestic sewage daily, which must be treated efficiently to meet environmental standards. Additionally, the treated water needed to be of high quality for reuse in landscape irrigation, thereby helping the park achieve its sustainability targets by conserving freshwater resources.

Key challenges:

  • Handle high volumes of domestic wastewater from thousands of employees.
  • Achieve high effluent quality to meet green irrigation requirements.
  • Implement a system that is easy to deploy and requires minimal civil work.
  • Ensure long-term operational stability and reliable water quality.
  • The Solution: A/O + MBR Process

To deliver the best results, Global UF engineered a 3-stage modular MBR system that integrated the A/O (Anaerobic/Oxic) process with Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology.

THE SOLUTION: A/O + MBR PROCESS

Global UF engineered a 3‑stage modular MBR system that integrates the A/O (Anaerobic/Oxic) process with Membrane Bioreactor technology.

Pre‑treatment & A/O unit:
Wastewater first passes through pre‑treatment to remove large solids. The A/O stage follows, where biological nutrient removal occurs. This process effectively reduces COD, ammonia nitrogen, and total nitrogen.

MBR membrane filtration:
Unlike traditional secondary sedimentation tanks, the MBR membrane provides superior solid‑liquid separation by intercepting suspended solids, colloids, and microorganisms. This results in high‑quality effluent that meets the standards required for landscape irrigation.

Integrated control:
The system includes automated aeration, reflux, and chemical dosing units. These maintain optimal biological activity and anti‑shock loading capacity, ensuring consistent performance even when sewage composition or flow fluctuates.

Project Highlights

Modular Containerized Design

The entire system is housed in 3 standardized, containerized units. This “plug-and-play” design allows for quick deployment and efficient assembly, reducing both civil work and the physical footprint of the system. The modular nature also makes future expansions simple.

Rapid Deployment & Commissioning

From equipment arrival to final commissioning, the entire on-site process was completed in just one month. This rapid installation was crucial in addressing the park’s urgent water treatment needs and enhancing the local water environment.

High-Quality Reuse Water

The MBR technology ensures the treated water meets the GB/T 18920-2020 standard for urban recycling water. The crystal-clear effluent is used for:

  • Landscape irrigation
  • Road sprinkling

By utilizing treated water for these purposes, the park conserves significant amounts of freshwater daily, supporting its sustainability goals.

Smart Remote Monitoring

The system includes an intelligent PLC control cabinet with remote monitoring capabilities. Operators can easily track key parameters, such as:

  • Water quality
  • Flow rates
  • Dissolved oxygen (DO) levels

These parameters can be monitored in real-time via mobile or PC, allowing for unmanned operation and minimizing the need for on-site personnel.

Results & Benefits

1. Environmental Impact

350 tons of wastewater are treated and reused daily.
The system reduces the burden on the municipal sewer system and helps maintain a cleaner environment.

2. Economic Savings

By substituting tap water with reclaimed water for landscape irrigation, the park has reduced its operational costs, particularly in water consumption, leading to significant savings.

3. Sustainable Demonstration

This project serves as a model of sustainability for other industrial parks looking for decentralized, efficient wastewater treatment solutions. Its modular design and high performance make it a viable option for future urban water management strategies.

Conclusion

Global UF’s 350m³/d Modular MBR Wastewater Treatment & Reuse System successfully solved the wastewater treatment and reuse challenges faced by the industrial park in Guangzhou. The system offers a modular, cost-effective, and quick-to-deploy solution that provides high-quality treated water for green irrigation and reduces the environmental burden on the local infrastructure.

This project demonstrates how innovative technologies like MBR can provide efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly wastewater management solutions for large-scale industrial applications.
